Upper Canada College is one of Canada's most prestigious independent schools, and has completed the fourth year of a five-year renovation plan. Over the course of the project, Dalton has managed the overhaul of large areas of the Upper School, as well as

Our relationships with clients and trades alike are akin to partnerships. Our focus is on delivery of the client's Definition of Success, and nothing less.

THE CHALLENGE

UCC's Definition of Success focused to a large degree on timely completion of the project. The Upper School and Boarding House are mission-critical parts of the school. With local and international students alike arriving in late August, delay was not an option.

THE SPEED OF TRUST

Dalton has been entrusted since 2005 to help UCC execute programs of renovation and modernization across its campus. After completion of summer 2013 work, UCC's Director of Facilities had this to say:

“An immovable deadline coupled with a firm budget and a fully occupied building, required Dalton to demonstrate a strong commitment to client needs, consistent communications and effective management.”

The decade of trust established between Dalton and UCC didn't happen by accident. Dalton's Alternative Approach makes high-trust environments happen by design.

On site at UCC, Dalton's processes ensured that the trades, architects, and the school are always on the same page. Our project structure promotes open and honest communication amongst team members.

In addition to focusing the team effort on UCC's Definition of Success, this approach also mitigates any pressures arising from the short schedule. Our trade relations program further cements the close communication we have across all disciplines, through every phase of construction.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Renovated boarding rooms were ready for students, as promised. On the first day of school, students and teachers moved in to their new classrooms in the Upper School. The same level of success will be expected of Dalton next year.
