Crescent School students arrived on the first day of the 2026/27 academic year to discover a transformational addition to the independent school’s 30-acre campus: Alumni Community Hall. The upper level of the new hub of the independent school’s campus features a dining hall with a seating capacity of 480 students, and a commercial kitchen and servery designed to serve more than 1,000 lunches daily. On the lower level, a new entrance to the school has been added with a reception area, a prominent staircase, offices, meeting rooms, a universal washroom, and the Student Commons.

Ensuring the addition and renovation project—which totalled 24,483 sq. ft.—was ready for the first day of school demanded rigorous schedule management. For Dalton’s project team, this meant keeping trade contractors and suppliers aligned with priorities and sequencing, and finding creative solutions to maintain, or accelerate, the schedule when the project’s critical path faced pressure. During the focused, final push to the project’s finish line, our team did everything necessary—and beyond—to deliver on time.

Dalton worked through numerous challenges to successfully deliver the complex project, including the realignment of the school’s network of existing services running through the footprint of the addition/renovation, and a restricted site with student pick up/drop located directly beside the main construction gate. Our team addressed these challenges by working diligently in the pre-construction phase, developing a well-coordinated site logistics plan and undertaking a vigorous value engineering exercise.
