Aquatics Complex Expansion

The Granite Club’s Aquatics Complex was the first of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and features four pools: two 25-meter pools, a large indoor/outdoor family leisure pool for year-round use, and a smaller pool designated for learn-to-swim programs. The complex is covered by a retractable glass and aluminum structure that can be opened during the summer months and closed within 15 minutes in case of inclement weather.

This project presented some of the most significant logistical challenges that Dalton had faced to date. Construction access was achieved through a 15-inch-wide steel road that was temporarily installed around a centuries-old oak tree. The roof technology attached to the existing structure required precise layout and detailing, as the schedule did not allow for site verification. Throughout the construction process, the existing aquatics center remained operational, with a temporary thermal wall installed between the old and new facilities.

The Granite Club's Aquatics Complex was awarded the Toronto Construction Association's "Best of the Best Award," recognizing its complexity and outstanding final result.
