Into the Future: Advancing Science and Technology Learning at St. Andrew’s College

The Dalton Company and St. Andrew’s College (SAC) are teaming up once again to enrich the school’s reputation as a leader in private school education for boys.

Dalton has been hired by SAC to act as construction manager to lead building activities for The McLaughlin Hall renovation project, which will broaden and improve the school’s physical space for science.

The project builds upon our previous success with the all-boys school delivering the $18M Centre for Leadership, Innovation and Performance.

Using our Alternative Approach to Building methodology, we are collaborating with an integrated team that includes Project Manager Turner & Townsend and Montgomery Sisam Architects to deliver the project. Our early involvement in the pre-construction phase with SAC’s consulting team will help improve the design and planning process and identify potential issues before they arise in the construction phase.

Other scopes include the new installation of an elevator, an extension to the Bedard Athletic Centre entrance and a new opening to the athletic corridor and replace the existing stairway from the main floor to the second floor of McLaughlin Hall on the east side of the building.

The renovations will occur within a three-storey wing attached to other buildings which will be used by staff and students during construction and renovations.

During construction, Dalton’s project team will extend careful consideration to mitigating noise and environmental impacts while the school is in operation and any works within common access routes. The project will be scheduled so the work can be performed when buildings are not occupied.

The current target for the school’s fundraising campaign for the renovations is $10M. Substantial completion is scheduled for Summer 2020.
